On the lighter side...Playschool!
one cat, two cat's - January-March 2003
A viewer complained that an episode of Play School had exposed young viewers to inaccurate grammar, incorrectly using the possessive form for plurals. We acknowledged this error, particularly in light of the program’s educational content, and apologised, advising the viewer of recent advice issued to all staff by the ABC’s Standing Committee on Spoken English.
Summary published: Wednesday 18, March 2009
Complaint: A viewer expressed concern that a segment showed the use of shoe polish to make prints from leaves.
Audience and Consumer Affairs response: The ABC agreed that it was inappropriate to demonstrate the use of shoe polish to make leaf pictures, as it may contain toxic substances. ABC Television advised that the segment would be remade using a non-toxic product safer for children to use for art and craft activities. Additionally, a related activity sheet explaining how to make leaf pictures with shoe polish was removed from the Play School website.
