Shock: ABC's extreme left wing bias confirmed

An article on the Tax payer funded The Conversation has some interesting statistics on the voting intentions of ABC activists journalists. Based on the latest Newspoll figures current community voting intentions are as follows for primary votes:
ALP: 31%
Coalition: 46%
Greens: 9%
Other:14%

The upside down figures for the ABC:
"41.2% of the 34 ABC journalists who declared a voting intention said they would vote for the Greens, followed by 32.4% for Labor and 14.7% for the Coalition."
Is it any surprise that ABC leans left of the left? One wonders whether the 14.7% are real or fudged, especially as ABC does not employ a single conservative to lead any of its prominent current affairs programs.

That clause from ABC's charter (our bold):
The functions of the Corporation are:...to provide:
(i) broadcasting programs that contribute to a sense of national identity and inform and entertain, and reflect the cultural diversity of, the Australian community;

Mark Scott, how can your organisation reflect the cultural diversity of, the Australian community when its employees are demonstrably dominated by one cultural group?

  1. The question is not the voting intentions of the reporter, it is a question of their professionalism. The scrutiny should be on the reporting rather than on the reporter. If the reporting is biased, then it should be criticized as such, but journalists have the right to their own political views and voting intentions.

    1. Rubbish its human nature to steer our course toward our belief even if unconsciously & if one set of opinion is overwhelmingly represented
by not only reporters but right through camera crews to editors then the final outcome is a forgone conclusion.

  2. The ABC has been bias for many many years, it is common knowledge that the ABC is Labor's Headquarters. It is a disgrace, that a Taxpayer funded entity can behave the way they do. We can only hope that the incoming Government will privatise the ABC and cut this lot of rabble loose to survive on there merits in the real world. Not many will go the distance. The ABC is an enormous waste of struggling taxpayer's money, time for these pretenders to get real jobs.

    1. l couldn't agree more. The ABC are unashamedly left biased, anti conservative, they actively undermine christian religion, they erode traditional family values - in short we need urgently to reform them or remove them.

  3. ABC is only a waste of non-left-wing taxpayers money. For any left-wing taxpayer the money is well spent.

  4. I'm only a young voter, however, over the past year of watching as much news as possible and trying to get involved in politics I noticed immediately how the ABC is rather left-leaning. The show Q&A is the worst. So many discussions on that show are so idealistic, it almost feels like half of the audience are green voters who don't have a grasp on reality, or when the few people in the audiences ask more "controversial" / less idealistic left leaning questions they're immediately shot down by so called quest 'professionals' who are on the panel.

In conclusion this is just my opinion, but there is no doubt in my mind that the ABC is a left dominant media outlet. Overall I like to consider myself to be a centralist. I have certain views that lean left and other views that lean right, so I do like to consider this as an honest un-bias observation from a centralist.

  5. Q & A is a disgrace, it's not just the obvious stacking of the left leaning panel. The more concerning aspect is the influence of the host, with constant less obvious left bias

  6. As someone not from the left side of political beliefs, I find the left wing bias of Tony Jones and the Q&A Panel unbearable to watch. Can this alienation of 51% of the tax paying population be acceptable to a Public Funded institution that is supposed to be for all Australians?
